|
|
| Anytown Kids Foundation,
A Non-Profit Place-Based Learning and Adventure Complex,
features programs and on-site facilities that encourage
children to learn a variety of skills, as well as building
their self-confidence through supervised activities. We
provide academic and field education programs for individuals
and school groups in relaxed and inspirational environments.
Our team of councilors, instructors and mentors encompass
a wide arena of experience and academic excellence. www.anytownkids.com |
| Mission: To foster professional
excellence and promote the creation of successful
strategies; To preserve traditional values while helping
our young people reach for their dreams and achieve
their highest potential; To empower, encourage, influence,
and support individual potentiality, personal growth,
responsibility and success. |
| Purpose: To provide a western
interactive facility, learning partnerships, and programs
for young people to identify their own goals and take
specific steps towards achieving them. Through ranch
activities and assigned responsibility students learn
the value of hard work, develop a positive sense of
self, and understand the importance of family values
and relationships. Educational programs mix with entertainment
activities and interactive visual and hands on experiences
while sharing our western culture and heritage. |
|
| Our Place-Based Education program
is organized around the following learning topics: |
| A. Individual Development |
| B. Team Building |
| C. Human History |
| D. Western Heritage |
| E. Horse Care |
| F. Academic Excellence |
| G. Creative Exploration & Development
|
| H. Adventure & Youth Health |
|
|
A. Individual Development
Providing youth from diverse
backgrounds an interactive asset-driven learning environment
that encourages them to broaden their perspective of the
world, explore their interests and investigate new possibilities
for the future. Built around a career exploration / preparation
curriculum, the programming focus is committed to helping
students to: develop personal accountability, independence
and resilience, and increase knowledge of career and college
options based on personal interest.

|
| Featuring Tigers Action Plan:
|
| The goal of the Action Plan is to
generate measurable improvements in students' self-esteem,
goal-setting abilities and attitudes towards learning.
The program helps inspire and guide youth in the belief
that they can act on their dreams, make a difference
in their community and realize their potential, one
step at a time. |
| Character Development
|
| The program develops life skills
that can be reinforced at all ages. The process
includes setting goals, identifying role models,
recognizing barriers to success, volunteering,
and thinking about jobs and careers. Age based
programs have been designed to offer a choice
of developmentally appropriate activities for
students at three levels: Upper Elementary,
Middle and High School. |
| Volunteer Service |
| Ranch Volunteers are our lifeblood.
None of the programs would come to life, or
function smoothly, without the dedicated efforts
of the individuals who offer their time and
skills. We believe that all people are gifted
with their own set of skills that make them
unique and cherished. While child-care and horse
care are vital to our operations, they are only
part of what makes our facility run. |
| Volunteers in Action Program |
| Interaction in a variety of
capabilities, including serving as workshop
facilitators, mentors/buddies, and engaging
participants in hands on learning activities.
Facility staff, parents, and community leaders,
work with students to expand horizons through
volunteer service projects. |
| Career Exploration |
| Teaching the process
of dreaming and planning for a career. The program
includes defining ways to make personal gains
and change behaviors that impede progress. We
reinforce the importance of making intentional
choices and design ways to stay focused on reaching
goals. Students learn about themselves, discuss
and research interests and explore career options. |
|
| Note: The Ranch will provide many
opportunities for learning and developing practical
work skills. |
|
|
B. Team Building
All activities are conducted
in small groups under the leadership of a trained guidance.
Students must use teamwork to overcome challenges and
to help each other in difficult situations. They also
work as a team to plan the evening campfire activities.
During the course of the program students bond with one
another and learn to value one another as unique individuals.
Friendships are formed and a real sense of camaraderie
is established that persists long after the program ends.
|
|
C. Human History
The human history of the
Sacramento Valley and surrounding Cascade and Sierra Nevada
mountains becomes real as students discover information
and adventures. Realistic displays and interactive exhibits
offer enlightening and memorable learning opportunities
as students explore replicas of historic places with hands-on
activities. Explorations are highlighted by shared readings
from our past, Native American stories, emigrant tales,
railroad and ranching history.
|
|
D. Western Heritage
Learning about our western
heritage is taught through books in our schools. Experiencing
this important part of our nations growth, however, through
shared activities becomes a life memory. Our Northern
California area is home to some of the Nations most experienced
and recognized Western authorities and celebrities. These
include Ranch Stock Providers, Rodeo Clowns, Cowboys and
Cowgirls. With the Nationally known Red Bluff Round Up,
Annual Bull and Gelding Sale, and numerous Horse and Animal
events held in our community, we have the unique opportunity
to introduce and learn from true Western Heroes.
|
|
E. Horse Care
Anytown Kids Ranch features programs
and on-site facilities that encourage children to learn
horse-care skills, as well as building self-confidence
through supervised horse-riding activities. The ranch
has stall barns, round pens, riding arena, and areas
for both structured activities and safe relaxation.
One of the hardest things for a disadvantaged
child to learn is that he or she is worth being loved.
Horses help healing both body and soul. We have rescued
horses and other animals that were unwanted, and abused.
They need extra care and a whole lot of love. It is incredible
to watch a miraculous bond firm as hurting horses find
new life in the fragile, loving hands of their new friends,
mending broken lives and hearts.
NOTE: Activities and
stories are filmed as educational documentaries to bring
awareness to domestic issues faced by the youth of today.
